Which historically black college has the best cheerleading team?
Ive been cheering since 4th grade and i really want to go to a hbcu but i want to figure out who has the best team skill wise including jumps stunts tumbling and anything else you can think of. Okay I know this is a crucial year for me-I am a junior in high school. My sophomore year I only got As and Bs and this year I plan on keeping it up. I take honors classes and this year I'm taking some AP classes. PS: My freshman grades weren't really that good(As and Bs, but 2 Cs and a D!). =/ Well ever since freshman year I've been trying to redeem myself with extracurricular activites and stuff. I'm going to tell you some of them (I'm trying to get into a great college):
Freshman year-band(I've been playing since 7th grade)
Sophomore year- band, leadership club, black student union, cheerleading for basketball season.
Junior year- I plan on doing the leadership club again, band of course, and black student union. However, I didn't make the cheerleading squad this year!! So, should I try drama club? Run for junior class? National Honors Society? Or just stick with the clubs I'm in and focus on studies? Help please!

The possibility of me getting married is indeed very real and could happen within a few months. In my dream I was happy and I was with all the girls I did cheerleading with in college. We were all running to get me to church on time and I was wearing this gorgeous gown, but it was black, and I had no idea who my groom was. Thoughts anyone?

Your dreams will just get stranger as you move along in the wedding planning process. One of the first wedding dreams I had my dress turned purple haha! Where can i get into college?
I am a junior in a small highschool. I have a 90% cumulitive average at the moment. I got 2100 on my sat and i live in new york and i am black. I am co-captian of my schools cheerleading team, i do community service, i directed and produced 2 productions i am enrolled in a college level course and by next year will have take 2 more and 3 ap classes total. what colleges do you think i could get into. my mom keeps telling me that i can get into princeton and i keep telling her that its not going to happen. This year was the first year in my schools 16 year history that someone got inot princeton. i dont even want to go there. What colleges do you think i would be able to get into?
p.s. i dont know what i want to major in yet though i know that is important when making my choice.

You have a shot at Princeton, but it would be a stretch. Since you say you don't want to go there, I wouldn't bother applying. Go to a school that YOU (not parents or relatives) want to go to. You might want to consider a "second tier" school like UC Berkeley, U. of Michigan, etc., etc. You'd still get a first-rate, though slightly less prestigious, degree than you would get from an Ivy League school.

A big factor should be what kind of scholarships each school is willing to give you. What counts is not the total cost of four years at the school, but rather the total costs MINUS what the school is willing to give you in scholarships (NOT INCLUDING loans or on-campus employment). Many private schools are very expensive, but offset that with generous scholarship programs. You should get this information with your acceptance letter. If not, call the Financial Aid Office at the school.

I have narrowed my options down to three colleges , Tuskegee University , Xavier University , and Emory University . These three colleges have been known nationally for their outstanding medical schools.
I have spent ample time at Tuskegee University in the past few years .Tuskegee University was founded in 1881 by Booker T. Washington . It is also a historically black college .The out of state tuition for Tuskegee is $14,740. The campus seting is in a suburban are and the teacher to student ratio is 9 to 1 . The average G.P.A. for entering freshman is a 2.75 .Tuskegee offer thrwee types of finanicila aid for students who need it , which are grants loans and work study.Themale to female pecentage ratio is 47% to 53% . The graduate pupulatin is 145 .Tuskegee offers many extra currricular a few being , Athletics , Naval ROTC , and Golden Voices Choir.
Emory University is especially known for their achevments in their medical school . Emory university was founded in 1836 in Oxford, Georgia by a small group of Methodists and was named in honor of John Emory. The in state tuition cost for Emory university is $36,336 .The teacher student ratio is 7 to 1. I have chosen their Institute because they are top producing school of doctors in the United States .They have large student to teacher ratios, in which I learn best . Their graduatuing Poulatin is high . Atletics are also essential I the search for a college to me , and Xavier has a top tennis team . They have many sources of financial aid , and their tuition is reasonable.

Dakota Nicholai River was never happy with herself. Inside she was the kind of girl any guy would want to marry. She was nice, smart, funny, flirtatious, and very good looking, everything a guy could ask for. Somehow she became an outcast. She never got along with girls and was never popular in school. Dakota had her whole life planned out. She was going to a private college somewhere in the New England area to get a teaching degree and become a 5th grade teacher. Dakota was going to get married to the love of her life, have two perfect guyren and a friendly golden retriever. All of that was thrown up into the air in 2007 when Dakota started highschool.
10:21 p.m. Friday, September 17th, 2008.
The bleachers were completely empty as the Brenwell Cougar's cheerleaders spirited off the track from outside football field after their last dance routine. Dakota walked quickly over to her black cheerleading duffle which sat safely beside the fense that lined the outside of the track. The girls ended the game with their usual ritual of all hands in for cougars on three.
1,2,3 COUGARS! YOU KNOW!, errupted of the miles of Brenwell High's sports fields.
Crowds of people made their way out to the high school parking lot. That was when Dakota fell completely in love with Bobby Weaks . He was the all time most adorable soccer player. Number 17 and on first string. Their eyes met across the parking lot. His golden brown and her chocolate milk brown eyes melted into each other. He noticed ther gaze landed right on his super cute face so he smiled and waved softly and she smiled her usual crest-white toothy smile back at him. As Bobby got into a shiney black convertable with his friends. Dakota turned the opposite direction and walked down the sidewalk through the backway to get home.
Brenwell Farms is a town where nearly everything is the same, plain and simple. The development takes over the whole town with the exception of lots of dense woods, the highschool, the middle school, two elementry schools and two shopping centers. The developement is made up of townhouses that line the well-paved streets of roads that anyone who hasn't been there could get easily lost. The the townhouses are nearly identical and have the exact same amount of neatly-manicured lawns with a simple amount of curb appeal.
Dakota turned left down a road with lots of trees, land and mini mansions. The road began growing darker so she pulled out a flashlight from her cheer bag and shined it down upon the road in front of her. Dakota looked down at the path in front of her, watching her foot move one in front of the other.

Wow, you wrapped up some interesting parts of the story in just a few paragraphs, telling me what happened without letting me enjoy experiencing it as it happens.

It would be better if we came to know the way Dakota feels inside over time. Just show her as an outcast. Put her in some situations where we can SEE how she's an outcast, feeling the wrath of those cheerleaders and others. Maybe even Bobby is mean to her, or at least cold and distant. Don't make him be the answer to her problems. If anything, she wants him to be, but he's not. He'll have to come around to appreciate everything she is "inside".

As for her big plans, she should have them but they should be ridiculously impossible. She's an outcast. Outcasts don't have high opinions of themselves. Dreams yes, self-confidence to acheive them, no. And they know it.

And by all means, don't rush the story. I like the character and the setting that you put her in. Let the reader enjoy it.

And absolutely add more dialogue. That much description and backstory is too much. You can do better by showing examples of things happening, though character interaction.

Think about when you meet someone and hear them talking. You learn a lot more about them talking and seeing how they interact than you could ever know from just a cold description about them. By letting your characters flesh themselves out in the same way, you will create a more powerful image of them and a more powerful story.
